In this session, we begin by reading from The Path to Spiritual Excellence by Mawlānā Shaykh Nāẓim (qs). The talk explores the importance of maintaining a living, vibrant heart through dhikr (remembrance) and spiritual connection, especially in an age where materialism threatens to deaden the soul.
We revisit the true meaning of spirituality — connection with spirit and with light — and the central role of Iḥsān(spiritual excellence) in Islam. Through the balance of Islām (outer form) and Īmān (inner faith), we strive toward becoming muḥsinūn, those beloved by Allāh.
The discussion highlights the key role of adab (spiritual manners and respect) as the foundation of good character (akhlāq), and reminds us that true progress is not technological but spiritual and moral. We reflect on how real civilization is built on noble character, and how both outward practice and inward sincerity must be developed together.
Drawing from the teachings of Mawlānā Shaykh Nāẓim, we are reminded to ask Allāh for what truly matters: nearness to Him, eternal blessings, and acceptance in His Divine Presence — not merely worldly gains. The importance of balance between dunyā and ākhirah is emphasized, as we seek the straight path (ṣirāṭ al-mustaqīm) by living a life of both outward engagement and inward remembrance.
